Statement of Intention: this is a persuasive essay to convince people that women are the stronger sex. The purpose of this essay is to clear the on-going controversial argument about whether men or women are stronger. The audience is mainly for men, and for women’s entertainment.
For centuries, we’ve had men rule over armies, countries and continents. For centuries, people only took orders from men, and women were only expected to entertain men and be supportive towards their husbands whenever needed. However, there is no denying that in this twenty-first century, women are indeed the stronger sex. Women are the stronger sex because they have brains that were designed to help them multitask easily. Women can withstand pain emotionally, mentally and physically better than men can. They can go through stress, humiliation, rejection, disappointment and pressure but they would not give in or give up. Yet, best of all, women are strong enough to cry and to express their feelings without being worried about hurting their ego.
Women are the stronger sex because they can multitask. Brain specialists have proven this with their study of the human brain. Between every human being’s left and right brain, also known as the IPL, there is a ‘bridge’ that helps connect the activities between the two IPLs. Medical images show that women have a wider ‘bridge’, which helps them multitask easily. Some may argue that large companies have CEOs and Executive Directors who are men, and being in a large company, these men will have to juggle between tasks and meetings, and one should consider it multitasking. However, they fail to think that as CEOs, they have set times for appointments, and if he wanted to have a break, he would have a break. That is not really multitasking. Imagine this, a young teenage girl could talk on the phone, paint her toenails and read a magazine all at the same time. Likewise, a young mother could feed her three-year-old son, wash the dishes, bake some muffins and make plans for an outing with her girlfriends the next day. Being able to multitask naturally helps a woman save a lot of time throughout the day, but even so, a woman is known to have the ability to take care of herself when sick and work 18 hours a day. There is no argument about it; women are the stronger sex.
Besides that, women are the stronger sex because they can withstand emotional, mental and physical pain better than men can. Studies have again proven that women are generally more tolerant of pain and this explains why women have to go through childbirth instead of men. No one could ever imagine any man going through childbirth. As women, we know that bearing a child will be tough, but we also know we’ll be able to persevere through and come out of the whole experience, alive. Moreover, women have to go through emotional, physical and mental pains on a monthly basis. If any man were to experience period pains the same way women have to, that man would probably go berserk. Going through stomach cramps and uncontrollable mood swings on a monthly basis is what women are made of. Yet, those pains are said to be incomparable with the pain a woman will have to go through during her pregnancy. Some religious men would argue that men are stronger simply because God had taken a bone from man’s ribs to make woman. However, it has been recorded in the Bible that God had to put man into a deep sleep before making the woman. ‘Deep sleep’ would probably be equivalent to a full dose of anaesthetic; really, how strong can a man be? Therefore, women are proven the stronger sex simply because they can withstand emotional, mental and physical pains much better than men can.
In addition to that, one of the joys of being a woman is knowing that you can experience a truckload of disappointments, rejections, pressures and humiliations but still rise above them. The reason being that men have mountain-high egos built in them, that they tend to take rejections, humiliations and disappointments much harder than women do. Studies have shown that because men keep their emotions buried in them, men are more prone to heart attacks because they find it hard to express themselves. An advantage to women who are able to rise above emotional hurts is the role of a mother. Often, children and husbands hurt their mothers and wives intentionally, or unintentionally. However, being the stronger sex, women are always able to put the past behind them and continue to love unconditionally, no matter how many times they’ve been hurt. Fact of the matter is that it is never easy to be a mother, from the time a child is conceived until the time her child gets married. Despite all the hurts, women are known to be strong enough to be able to hold on and take in whatever life throws at them. There is no question about it; women are the stronger sex.
Lastly, women are the stronger sex because they know how to cry and they’re not afraid to cry either. Crying always helps a woman feel better, despite whatever situation she may be going through. Crying, to a woman is like an antibiotic for a cold; she will feel better as time passes, but she cannot feel better until she cries. It has been known for centuries, that tears are a woman’s way of expressing her fears, her joys, her loneliness, her disappointments, her anger and her pride. It is not as if men cannot cry, but that they generally will not cry. Studies show that women have longer lives compared to men and some scientists believe that because women cry a lot, as a way of expressing their feelings, they have longer lives. This study relates back to the study that shows men are more prone to heart attacks because they always keeping their feelings buried in them. In short, women are the stronger sex.
Of course, men also have their strengths. Brain studies have shown that in men, their left IPL are larger than women’s are. This explains why most mathematicians and physicists are men, because the left IPL involves speed, calculations and sciences. Women, on the other hand, have larger right IPLs compared to men’s and explains why women are better at language and human relations. In addition, men are stronger physically, that is why women rely on men to carry heavy loads and do construction works. However, being strong physically cannot compare with how women are stronger emotionally and mentally. Therefore, women are the stronger sex. Although men are more intelligent with mathematics and sciences, studies show that women’s memory for emotional things are more keenly when compared to men’s. In addition, an earlier study supports that women generally have good autobiographical memory for anything, not just for emotional events. In the year 2006, a study carried out in New York showed that men’s brains are larger, but as they age, they also shrink faster than women’s brains. Another study in San Francisco proved that men thought about sex as often as once every minute while women thought about sex as often as once in one or two days. This justifies that saying that men only always think about sex, and somehow proves women are the stronger sex.
When Bill Clinton and his wife Hilary bumped into one of the boys Hilary used to date back in high school, who was working in a petrol station, Bill Clinton candidly remarked that Hilary was lucky to marry him because he was the president. However, Hilary immediately replied saying, “No, you are lucky. Because if I married that man, he would be president.” This is just one small scenario of what important roles women have in this twenty-first century. Women are special because they have an international day and a national day. They are special because the wife of a country’s president is called the First Lady, but what if the woman was president, what would her husband be? Clearly, women are the stronger sex, simply because they are who they are. Lastly, there is another saying that goes like this: behind every great man, is a woman. Women are indeed, the stronger sex.
Ehehe...that was my last, and proudest ESL SAC of my whole life...hoped you liked it. If you read the whole thing, you would've read a total of about 1390 words. Also, I believe I would've sparked some tremendous interests or rebutts somewhere in the crowd of readers...but anyhow, leave your comments if you like...or if you think you can beat my feminist arguments.. ;)
God bless and take care. I love you.
Love,
Audrey.
